Momos is a popular snack from China. They are easy to prepare and delicious too. Momos can be filled with any kind of stuffing, vegetables or minced meat. They are not deep-fried but steamed.

Serves: 3


  • 1 cup maida
  • 1 cup grated cabbage
  • 3 green chillies, chopped fine
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 onion, chopped lengthwise
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp fresh cream
  • Milk to knead flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp refined oil


Take maida, salt, cream and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Knead the flour with milk. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.

For stuffing

Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions till soft. Add chopped garlic and garlic and fry for 2 minutes. Add cabbage, salt, green chillies and cook till cabbage is done, covering the pan. The stuffing is now ready.

Roll the dough into small puris. Place a small quantity of stuffing on one side of the puri. Close it. It should be in the shape of a semicircle.

In the same way prepare all the momos and steam them in a cooker for about 5 minutes. Then reverse the momos and steam the other side for another 5 minutes.

Momos are now ready. Take them on a serving plate and serve hot with green chutney or sauce.

    Momos the Chinese snack that has taken over the food market in the past few years. The Maida dumplings can be filled with vegetables or minced chicken/mutton and are delicious in taste.
