Almond Chocolate

Almond chocolate is made with double boiling process to get a soft chocolate without lumps. This homemade chocolate can be stored for longer time when refrigerated and gifted to your loved ones wrapped in attractive aluminum foils. This Christmas you can gift children, these chocolates along with Santa’s goodies.

Cook time: 20 min
Makes about 20 chocolates


  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 50 g milk powder
  • 1 cup castor sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup chopped almonds
  • Few drops of almond essence


Heat 1-cup water in a pan. Place a glass bowl (preferably borosil) in it. Add butter and let it melt. Add cocoa powder, castor sugar to it. Mix well so that no lumps form.

Add almonds. Each almond can be cut into three pieces and not very small. Stir well and cook till the mixture leaves sides. Now add few drops of almond essence and mix.

Let it cool. Take a small amount of mixture and make balls while still warm. Cool them in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes. Wrap in attractive aluminium foils and refrigerate.

    I love almonds and I love chocolate — especially dark chocolate. Both are “superfoods” with a very high anti-oxidant (ORAC) value. I have read that lmonds, pecans and walnuts contain antioxidants that might fight Alzheimer’s. Is that omega 3?
