Cooking time: 40 min
Serves: 2-3

  • 500 gms chicken
  • 1 large bunch of coriander
  • 2 streaks of curry leaves
  • 1 bunch mint leaves
  • 6 green chilies
  • Pepper powder for taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp refined oil
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ tsp lime juice
  • ½ cup beaten curd
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 2 cardamoms
  • A pinch of sugar

Clean the chicken. Mix with curd, turmeric, and salt and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile clean the coriander and mint leaves. Remove the stalks and make a paste of these along with curry leaves and green chilies in a mixer. Add water if necessary.

Heat oil in a pan and fry cloves, cinnamon and cardamom for 5 seconds. Then fry chopped onions to a light brown color. When the onions are about to turn brown, add ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 or 2 minutes.

Then pour the green paste to this and add a pinch of sugar. This avoids discoloring. Close the lid and cook till oil oozes out. Add water at times stirring frequently.

When raw smell is gone add the marinated chicken and coriander powder. Mix well and close the lid. Cook till chicken is done. If it is dry add some water and cook. Add more salt if necessary. Use pepper powder if you like it more spicy. Sprinkle garam masala and limejuice before removing from fire. Serve hot with roti or rice.
